Who is this Master Class for?
The ideal candidate is a French or French speaking actor/ actress either already in New York or wishing to come to New York to wet his/her toes in the fascinating world of New York theatre, film and TV.

When does it take place?
The Workshop takes place form December 3rd to the 5th in Manhattan New York in a centrally located studio to be advised to participants upon registration.

The Workshop
Focuses on the practice of performing in English, through scene study, covering the specific requirements in English speaking countries and the differences between these and the French speaking cultures.
Texts to be studied include: Tennessee Williams, Arthur miller, David Mamet, Edward Albee, Richard Kalinoski, Robert Schenkkan and other contemporary American playwrights.


     
It entails:

  • Scene study with type-specific pre-selected scenes

  • Accent, diction, inflection and general delivery for improved communication.
  • Simulating an audition situation followed by comments by a visiting director to improve audition skills.
  • Tips on the workings of the industry in New York and how to's of successfully pursuing an acting career.
  • Meetings with established casting directors and agents (names to be provided) for an opportunity to experience a real casting/interview situation.

Acceptance Conditions:
Geared towards professional actors eager to develop acting skills and increase marketability in the US by performing in English. Apply by sending in CV/resume with a cover letter.
Workshops for non-actors will be offered in the future. Write to us about your particular interest.

Participation fee and travel times:

Mail in a check for $50 made to: Pemart Productions to the address at the bottom of this page.

The balance of the fee of $250 USD is payable in advance through check, bank transfer or PayPal to cover for the Workshop days. Meetings with casting director/agent arranged outside of the workshop are additional and range from $25-40.

  • PRIVATE COACHING AVAIALABLE

    Private coaching is available for actors wishing to improve speech, diction and delivery techniques and acquiring a more marketable but also authentically personal speech pattern by reconnecting with their true identity.
  • Nora Armani
    is an actress and stage/film director with many years' experience and international credits to her name. She has lived over 14 years in France where she has trained in most top European theatre traditions working with such renowned theatre directors such as  the Theatre du Soleil's Ariane Mnouchkine, CIRT- Peter Brook actor Yoshi Oyda, Complicity Theatre's Simon MacBurney, Irina Brook, movement guru Monica Pagneux and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in accent and diction. This, in addition to her American training in the Lee Strasberg Method, a short passage at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and UCLA for specialized Speech and Diction training.
    She has taught and held theatre residencies in the LA Unified School District system as well as  day schools and Universities in the UK and USA ranging from the London School of Economics and Political Science to the University of La Verne in California and other private institutions.
    Totally bilingual in English and French with years' experience working with French actors and non-actors (CEO's, higher management, business personnel) as a coach in English, she has acquired a lot of knowledge and experience. She brings in not only a working actor's perspective combined with the sharp eye of a stage director but  she can
    also address the specific linguistic needs of French students in a highly customized and skilled manner.

Alternative 2-weekend program Program:

Weekend 1:
Thursday: Initial group meeting - Complimentary welcome cocktail.
Friday to Sunday immersion in studio space from 10am - 6pm with a lunch break.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings meetings with casting directors,
agents, and/or a theatre outing.

Weekend 2:
Thursday to Sunday immersion in studio from 10am - 6pm with a lunch break.
Simulation of audition situations with a New York stage director and a producer. Work sessions with fellow New York actors. Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
